Bonanza and Borrasca, The Life Story of Chester Loomis North : typescript, 1973.

Autobiography describes author's life from his birth in 1889 until the present, 1973. He details the influence of historical events including the history of California gold mining, the San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906, events leading to the 1929 stock market crash and Great Depression. His grandfather, John Wesley North and his father, George Loomis North were connected with prominent figures of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as Mark Hopkins, Senator Charles N. Felton and Hugo Pinckney Frear. There are detailed descriptions of the author's trip to China, Japan and Hong Kong in 1903 and his life in Europe during the 1920s.
